Growing in the cold

Despite the temperature dropping and the clouds blocking the sun a we transition in to winter, my nasturtiums are growing. The nasturtiums I planted in late July/early August, mind you. I don't know why they decided to break ground, but it's nice to see their little leaves reaching towards the sky. (:

Endings and beginnings...

Ate my last strawb this morning. On the other hand my mum is going to be big and beautiful soon!

Cleaning up for Fall

As the maples begin to turn, I went out on the patio to sort through my jungle on an 80+ degree day. Doesn't that sound silly? It's hot out and leaves are falling. The weather is confused. Not the trees. By mid-August I couldn't wait for fall and I'm still feeling as if I'm waiting a little...

I trimmed, rearranged, watered and harvested.

My lemon balm.
Nandina!

My jungle all cleaned up and organized.

This was yummy by the way. (:
Don't you love the frilly edges of the petals?

Perfect to go with my basil!

Even little ladybugs are still around.

Look at that chrysanthemum! I cut on it twice throughout the summer and it's still huge.

End of summer bounty

More tomatoes! I spent a little time trimming my tomato plant so my current tomatoes can get more light.

The pears came from my blackberry picking excursion last night. I believe they were on county property so I gathered some. Pretty exciting!

Orange you glad I didn't say tomato?

I'm finally seeing some color on my first and biggest tomato! It's been so long on the vine that I'm wondering what it will actually taste like in the end... But I'm glad it's ripening.

I think,I have finally given up on my s squash and cucumber and will be pulling them out. They are still blooming, but despite my pollinizing and watering they are not producing fruit.

On a better note I have some nastrtiums blooming and some I planted late, like the Alaskan variety, are coming up. I LOVE nasturtiums.
